Delhi Metro buildings in P-III to be judged under green norms

This would help Metro systems to design their stations as eco-friendly: Executive Director DMRC

Delhi metro station buildings being constructed in phase three along with other metro stations in the country will be rated by their compatibility with green building norms. According to Executive Director (Corporate Communications) DMRC, Anuj Dayal, this would help the Metro systems to design their stations as eco-friendly structures and utilise natural resources like sunlight more effectively.

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), a body involved in promoting the green building concept in India, will conduct this rating process. They will also issue guidelines for designing the station structures as green buildings. “DMRC has decided to be actively involved with this initiative as such rating will help a lot in encouraging the concept of green buildings not only in Metro systems but all infrastructure projects in the country,” Dayal said.

The first Expert Committee meeting of IGBC with this objective was organised yesterday at the DMRC headquarters. More info
