Experts to probe crash

MUMBAI: A day after a monorail beam collapsed in Chembur , killing two labourers and injuring three , the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) decided to do the usual—set up a committee of experts to investigate the cause of the accident .

The authority , however , is yet to appoint members to the expert committee .

The police have registered a case of negligence against the site engineer and site supervisor of L&T , which is carrying out the civil construction work for the monorail . The police , however , have not yet named any persons .

“We have registered a case under sections 304 (A), 337 , 338 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. The names of the supervisors and engineers are yet to be ascertained . Efforts are on to find out their names at the earliest ,” deputy commissioner of police Sanjay Shintre said .
