Lady officers to ensure safety of women in Mumbai locals



Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu announced Saturday that women officers had recently been inducted into the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to ensure safety of women passengers travelling n suburban trains in Mumbai.

“I met senior officers of the RPF. The women personnel have been trained to combat any situation on local trains that compromises safety of women commuters,” said Prabhu.

He added that CCTV cameras would soon be installed in all women’s compartments in local trains. “We already initiated this in the Western Railways,” Prabhu said.

On Saturday, Prabhu and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also attended the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited and the Dighi Port Limited for the Roha-Dighi Port rail connectivity project. More info
