Maharashtra told to prepare plan for Mumbai’s ring Metro service

Mumbai: Union minister for urban development Venkaiah Naidu has told the state government to prepare a plan for ring Metro services around the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

At the bhoomi pujan function of the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro, he said, “I request the state government to come up with a plan and the central government will extend support.”

The 32.5km Metro III corridor’s bhoomi pujan ceremony at the hands of chief minister Prithiviraj Chavan will pave the way for quicker execution of the project.

Chavan said, “The Metro III is expected to carry 14 lakh passengers in 2021 and 17 lakh in 2031.” Metro III, likely to be opened to commuters in 2020, will be India’s largest underground corridor. More info
