Mumbai: Mumbai Metro officials said on Monday that they have drawn up a comprehensive plan to evacuate commuters from trains, stations and midway in case of an emergency.

This came after Kolkata Metro passengers were stuck in a train for 90 minutes on Monday.

While the Kolkata Metro is underground, the 11.4km Mumbai Metro is an elevated corridor. Kolkata Metro passengers on the non-AC train were stuck inside a tunnel when it developed a snag.

An MMOPL spokesperson said, “The evacuation process will take two minutes if passengers are asked to alight mid-section and 7-10 minutes if the train has to be taken to the nearest station.” More info
