The Mumbai Metro network will be extended as far as the cities of Thane and Pune, Maharashtra’s chief minister has confirmed.
Prithviraj Chavan said on Saturday that the government has proposed a new Thane metro route to the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA), which is expected to report back on the project in a month’s time. According to a preliminary report, revealed by theEconomic Times, the line will run 32km between Thane, Ghatkopar and Wadala.
Chavan added that the state government was considering a new metro service connecting as far as Pune, some 148km from Mumbai. More info
