MUMBAI: The monorail’s second phase on the 10.24-km stretch between Wadala and Jacob Circle may gain momentum as the commissioner of railway safety (CRS), central circle, is likely to give approval to the MMRDA to launch girders above the railway tracks.

A senior MMRDA official said, “We are in the process of revising the design as suggested by CRS. There are bright chances of getting approval from the CRS this time.”

The first phase of the monorail between Chembur and Wadala was opened for commuters on February 2, this year. MMRDA has set a deadline of May 2015 for the second phase of monorail that will connect Wadala depot to Jacob circle but it is likely to be delayed by a few more months. More info
