MUMBAI: Commuters using the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar Metro can now use their debit or credit card instead of a smart card to pay the fare.
To avail this facility, they will have to opt for either an ICICI bank Unifare card or an SBI Metro card. While ICICI Bank will charge Rs 299 per annum, the fee for the SBI Metro card is not yet finalized.
“The combo card will enable commuters to have one card to act as both debit/credit card and Metro smart card. The facility will be available in the entire automatic fare collection (AFC) system of all 12 stations in Mumbai Metro One,” said a Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd spokersperson.
This first-of-its-kind facility is a leap towards the unified card system in urban transportation. More info
