MUMBAI: Monorail operations between Chembur and Wadala have been affected for the past week because of a shortage of rakes. As a result, the frequency of services stands at 30 minutes against the standard 15 minutes.

“Lower frequency has severely inconvenienced commuters, especially during the Diwali holidays when more people use the novel mode of transport for enjoyment,” a source said.

Some rakes recently developed a problem because the constant belocity joints that connect the axle broke. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has decided to impose a penalty on Scomi for the problem. More info
