The Maharashtra government on Sunday initiated a probe after the breakdown of monorail services due to power disruption left around a dozen passengers stranded midway through their journey in suburban Mumbai.
The monorail's second phase on the 10.24-km stretch between Wadala and Jacob Circle may gain momentum as the commissioner of railway safety (CRS), central circle, is likely to give approval to the MMRDA to launch girders above the railway tracks.
MUMBAI: The second phase of monorail from Wadala Depot to Jacob Circle is likely to get delayed because of MMRDA's poor planning. The agency did not take into account the proposed additional railway tracks at Currey Road station while planning a viaduct over it.

As of now, the Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL) is constructing the steel bridge by using pre-cast concrete segments in which a number of small segments are cast between two pillars. The Western Railway has agreed to provide blocks of about two to four hours per day for the construction work.
The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link project that connects Sewri and Nhava port in Mumbai, is likely to get a boost as the World Bank has shown keen interest in funding the said project.
